🛠️ Issue:

The “Device Manage” button in Microsoft Intune is greyed out and cannot be accessed.


Solution:

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Enable MDM for All Devices:

    • Go to Microsoft Intune Admin Center.

    • Navigate to:
      Devices > Enrollment > Automatic enrollment

    • Under MDM user scope, set the toggle to "All".

    • Click Save.

  2. Disable Windows Information Protection (WIP) (if applicable):

    • Go to: Endpoint Security > App protection policies

    • Locate and delete any existing WIP policies that might be interfering.

    • WIP is not supported alongside certain MDM settings — disabling it removes the conflict.

  3. Wait for Propagation:

    • Changes may take up to 24 hours to reflect across all devices and UI components.

    • Refresh the browser or sign out/in again to see the updated button status.


🧪 Notes:

  • Ensure you have the appropriate admin roles (e.g., Intune Administrator or Global Administrator).

  • If using Microsoft Entra, confirm that device registration is enabled under:
    Microsoft Entra ID > Devices > Device settings.
